How it works

  • Introduce yourself

    Answer a few questions about yourself and your finances, then set a savings or debt goal that you’d like to work towards.

  • Get matched

    We’ll find you an awesome match and kick off a group chat for you to share your goals, celebrate your wins, and encourage each other!

  • Share your story

    This is your judgement-free space to talk about money. Celebrate your wins and encourage each other when things don’t go as planned!

  • Meet our coaches

    Our certified coaches host free, open monthly workshops, and (coming soon!) folks engaged in Money Match can add private coaching for $15/mo - less than Netflix!

  • Meet your goals

    We’ll check in every couple of weeks with a quick pulse check to ask how you’re doing and capture a snapshot of your goal progress.

  • My Money Story matches you based on the information you share with us about your goals and financial situation.

    You’ll fill out our intake form here to tell us about yourself and what you are looking for in your match. It will only take 3 minutes.

    Once we find a match, we'll connect you over SMS.

  • We’ll connect you both via SMS to get to know each other. Each week will send a prompt for you to discuss.

  • We’ll help find you another Money Match quickly. Having a buddy you feel you can connect with is really important to us.

  • We share your name, city, state, financial goal topic, and any similarities (like both having kids or saving to provide for family) that may help you to feel a shared connection.

    We won’t don’t share anything else. Period.

  • We ask for some limited financial info to help you find the best money match, but won’t ever sell your data and will keep it private and secure.

  • Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and other people of color face unique challenges with income inequality and building wealth in the US. We want to create a safe space for POC to talk openly about financial goals and challenges.

    Allys are welcome. Our programs are open to everyone but are designed specifically for those in the POC communities.
